Lohmann France expands with Avida Systems

Lohmann France recently inaugurated its expansion to the hatchery in St. Fulgent.  They decided to use Avida 18 Single Stage setters and C192 hatchers with stainless steel interiors.  The project includes the Galaxy central computer system connected to the Genesis IV controls on each of the setters and hatchers.  The Chick Master Energy Management division has designed and supplied the ventilation and cooling systems for this expansion.

As part of any new project, Chick Master provided on site training recently during the start up of the expansion.  David Marsh and Marek Plicht from Chick Master reviewed machine operations, use of the Galaxy software, stage programming and other machine maintenance issues.  The objective was to review all the tools that these advanced systems have to offer so the Lohmann team can use them to their best advantage.  Attending the training sessions were Mr. Joel Adefray (Director of Lohmann France), Denis Annerau (Hatchery Manager), Benoit Guilmineau (Assistant Hatchery Manager), and Dominique Bonnet (Maintenance Manager).  Christelle Gelineau and Marie-Joel Guebert also participated.  This was the first step in the training process.  David will be returning in a few weeks to review the operations and results in the facility.  This is an ongoing process of constant training and communications with our customers.

Chick Master is committed to working with our customers on training and in addition to on site visits, we have organized many regional seminars around the globe to exchange ideas and concepts with hatchery management.  We are honoured that the Lohmann Group has selected us for this important expansion project.

Israel Seminar 2007 - Tuesday 23rd October, Dan Caesarea Hotel

Over sixty hatchery people spent the day with us for the Chick Master seminar at the Dan Caesarea Hotel on October 23rd.  The presentations, from Angel Salazar, David Marsh and Tim Hodgetts were informative and introduced some new ideas and concepts about the process of incubation.  Chick Master have spent great efforts to learn more about the needs of the embryo and how our systems and management of these machines can improve hatchery performance.   Many of the presentations demonstrated that Chick Master equipment has the tools to get better results under today’s conditions.  Another area of concentration was energy management.  Customers did not pay much attention to energy costs for many years.  Today energy costs and bills are of high importance.  The hatchery ventilation system allows better energy management.  The heat lost in the cooling process can be recovered, and in some parts of Israel, the heat recovery should be justifiable due to cool nights and days during the winter months.

Chick Master Open House 2007
Medina, Ohio, 17-18 October,  2007

We really appreciate that over 100 customers and friends took the time to be with us and participate in our annual Open House and seminar held at our plant in Medina, Ohio.  We presented  a variety of topics and ideas that can help improve results and management of the hatchery.  There are lots of changes to consider because of increased heat loads from flocks with greater fertility.  Higher energy prices force all of us to look at ways to reduce energy consumption and costs.

We hope to see you soon at another Open House or one of our regional seminars.  In the meantime, feel free to practice your singing....
